The Pelican Island Audubon Society is calling on local volunteer gardeners to lend their time to clear weeds and plant native plants at Pelican Island Elementary School in Sebastian on July 19.
The society’s adopted school is prepping for its open house ahead of the 2022-2023 school year by caring for its beloved native plant landscaping. In addition to adding natural beauty to the campus, the native plant landscaping helps teachers facilitate hands-on lessons for students and their families about environmental awareness.
Volunteers are needed for the July 19 planting and weeding project, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Gardeners should bring their own gloves and gardening tools. Water and snacks will be provided.
