Comedy Zone
August may be a quiet month around town, but Riverside Theatre keeps the entertainment coming Friday and Saturday nights with a full Comedy Zone and Live in the Loop lineup. Two comedians play the Waxlax Stage both nights (6:30 and 8:30 p.m., $25) and the outdoor Loop Stage hosts one band Friday and another Saturday (5:30–9 p.m., free). Aug. 1–2 it’s comics J.J. Curry and Ricky Hicken, with bands Murphy’s Law and Chemistry. Aug. 8–9, Greg Hall and Trish Keating will bring the laughs, while Klassik and Checkmate provide the music. Aug. 15–16, William Sloan and Seetha the Comic will take the indoor stage, and 60 West and Cypress Creek will be in the Loop. Aug. 22–23 guests will enjoy comedians Philly Plowden and Johnny C as well as the music of Soultime and Meltdown. The month will wrap up Aug. 29–30 with laughs from Andy Forrester and Vinnie Ward and tunes from two local bands yet to be determined at the time of this writing.
