The Vero Beach Museum of Art will set the scene for two free concerts for children by Space Coast Symphony Orchestra this season. These Once Upon an Orchestra concerts are designed for preschool and kindergarten-aged children and their families, and will coincide with the museum’s free admission Second Saturdays in November and March.
On November 8, the symphony’s woodwind quintet will perform Pinocchio at 11 a.m. The performance features the flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, and French horn, and depicts Geppetto, Pinocchio, Harlequin, Fairy Godmother, Candlewick, Toyland, the Whale, and more.
On March 14, at 11 a.m., the symphony’s string family, including the violin, viola, and cello, will support the story of the Princess and the Pea by Hans Christian Andersen. Music and props help little ones learn to differentiate between characters and settings.
Space Coast Symphony Orchestra conductor and artistic director Aaron T. Collins will serve as narrator for the 45-minute stories. Once Upon an Orchestra takes place in the Leonhardt Auditorium. Following the concerts, families are invited to join the performers to try out the instruments.
