From The Canvas To The Vase

Ann Webber and Lee LaPointe are working on their fourth Art in Bloom exhibit, due February 25.

They make it seem so easy – the “they” being Lee LaPointe and Ann Webber, who can look at a work of art and begin to envision one or more floral arrangements with similar colors, line and form. The silk screen of a can of Campbell’s Pepper Pot Soup by Andy Warhol comes to three-dimensional life in a white bowl brimming with plump red peppers and blossoms. The vibrant oranges, yellows and blues seen in Jim Dine’s coat of many colors are repeated in a profusion of flowers rising from a vase with lines like brush strokes.

These original arrangements were inspired by selected works from the Vero Beach Museum of Art’s permanent collection, and previously created for Art in Bloom. Now in its fourth year, the popular event has grown to include a more celebrated opening day preview featuring a floral demonstration by Lee LaPointe and a luncheon and fashion show presenting the latest styles from the Lazy Daisy, J. McLaughlin and Sassy Boutique in the Museum’s new Laura & Bill Buck Atrium.
