Just one month after its official opening, Vero Beach’s Youth Transition Center, which provides a home for young people ages 18-23 who have “aged out” of the foster-care system, held its first major event.
On February 9, Heart to Art, a design group that has produced “intergenerational art” in four states since 2003, invited Vero Beachers of all ages to help create a mural that would serve as a focal point of the Center, which is supervised by the Children’s Home Society. What made the event more intriguing was that participants did not need to have any previous painting experience. Those who attended were simply instructed to express their feelings about their home town through their art.
