"Love and work…work and love, that’s all there is,” said Sigmund Freud. But how many of us can combine those seemingly divergent realms of meaning and state that we love our work? When artist and educator Tim Sanchez affirms that he loves his work, he is referring both to the large canvases on which he labors in his beachside studio, as well as his 33-year career as an art teacher in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District of Long Island.
A year-round Vero Beach resident, Tim lives a stone’s throw from the ocean on a quiet cul-de-sac with his companion of 18 years, Jim Haigney. Their house is spacious and comfortable. It is decorated in a combination of traditional furnishings, antiques and Tim’s abstract paintings and collages, which are set off against walls of melon pink, periwinkle blue and butter yellow.
His studio is in the home’s spacious former family room; its high ceilings and skylights make it a perfect atelier.
