Three Events to Enjoy at Vero Beach Museum of Art

The Vero Beach Museum of Art will offer a selection of public programs to complement “A Tangled Plot: Works by Annie Blazejack and Geddes Levenson,” on view beginning July 12.

Opening Day

On July 12, enjoy free admission all day to celebrate the unveiling of “A Tangled Plot” with artists Annie Blazejack and Geddes Levenson. Swing by for a special edition of Sketching in the Gallery, one-hour drop-in session with the artists, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.. Blazejack and Blazejack will guide participants in slow-looking, share insights into their collaborative process, and offer tips and feedback on interpreting and sketching artwork. All skill levels are welcome. Materials are provided. Pre-registration is not required. Maximum 20 participants per session.

Additionally, enjoy Museum Studios Family Programming: Dream Scene Studio from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Art Talk

On July 16 at noon, join docents for an “Identities Real and Imagined” in-depth focus on select artworks. Docents will meet registered participants at Visitor Services and head to the galleries for 45-60 minutes of careful looking and discussion. Free for VBMA members; $12 per nonmember.

Florida Lore 

Master storyteller and professor Dr. Caren Neile will host a lecture on July 26 at 3 p.m. about Florida folk culture. Head to the Leonhardt Auditorium for a dynamic performance from Neile, a , who will bring these legends to life, discuss their importance, and ponder whether it matters if they are fact or fiction. The presentation is based on Neile’s book Florida Lore: The Barefoot Mailman, Cowboy Bone Mizell, the Tallahassee Witch, and Other Tales. Admission is $12 per non-member and free for members.
