Now 15 months old, Eliza has fully adjusted to life with her adoptive mother, Elizabeth Kennedy, on the barrier island.

When Elizabeth Kennedy decided to adopt a baby, she had no idea her new daughter, Eliza, would be waiting for her 11,000 miles away. The trip certainly turned out to be worth while, but it was a journey that almost did not happen.

Elizabeth owns and operates a successful catering firm in Vero Beach that she purchased in 1985. Time passed quickly with the demands of a growing business, and it was not until a few years ago she came to realize that with all her success, something was still missing from her life.

She was the youngest of five children and had fond memories of growing up in Connecticut and Florida among a houseful of kids. Her father was an advertising executive and her mother a stay-at-home mom. Then, tragically, when Elizabeth was 12 years old, her father died. Her mother followed 15 years later.
