Quiet walks along Vero’s beaches and the gentle rhythms of the Indian River make the passions and disorder of life in the Middle East seem pretty remote. For most of us, choosing to leave our shores for those places of danger and struggle, especially with a successful and growing career in our tranquil community, would never even be considered. But not so for a local well-known music man, missionary and teacher, Roy Kendall, who, since 1990, has made his home in Israel.

Kendall was born with a gift for music, a thirst for excellence and a willingness to take chances. He is also a man of faith who was not content to pursue his career and ministry in conventional ways. Last year his unique School of Worship, which he founded in Jerusalem in 1997, had students attending from 26 countries. Today, Roy and his wife Mary travel the globe seeking support and gathering teachers, helpers and students to continue their work. The Kendalls are in constant demand to lead worship services around the world, speaking at churches, recording Christian music and building relationships in Israel and the United States.
