Jackie is right at home on the Fairwinds Golf Course in Ft. Pierce where her husband, Travis, is the assistant golf pro. “Winning ‘Big Break Florida’ has changed my life,” she says; but one thing that won’t change is her support of the Fairwinds Junior Golf program.
Professional golfer Jackie Barenborg Stoelting is still getting used to being a celebrity. When she walked into a local restaurant the other day, several heads turned and a buzz of recognition began. Yes, it really was Jackie from the Golf Channel’s “Big Break Florida;” and yes, she’s as wholesome and unassuming as she appeared on the television show. On the days she’s behind the counter at Golf Round Up, it’s not unusual for customers to ask Jackie for her autograph. It shouldn’t come as a surprise. The last 14 months have been magical for the LPGA rookie.
In May 2013 she married Travis Stoelting, assistant golf pro at Fairwinds Golf Course in St. Lucie County. The day after returning from her honeymoon, Jackie qualified for the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open and made the cut for what is known as one of the toughest courses on the schedule, Sebonak in Southampton, N.Y. While on the Symetra Tour, the 27-year-old recorded five top-ten finishes, coming in at number 22 on the money list. In December she earned LPGA status by finishing T38 (tied at 38th) during Stage III of the LPGA Qualifying School.
