After serving in the misdemeanor division of the Public Defender’s Office in Vero Beach, Tameika was promoted to the felony division in Fort Pierce.
Attorney Tameika Jackson likes to say that one of the reasons she entered her profession is because her teachers at Saint Edward’s School encouraged it.
“Becoming a lawyer was a career path that was pitched to me before I even finished high school,” she says. “I think that when the people you hold in high regard see positive things for you, it’s that much easier to envision the possibility for yourself.
“Teachers would say that I should be a lawyer because I talked a lot in class, asked questions, and was very vocal about my opinions.”
Indeed, the articulate young woman uses all of those traits passionately in her present position as an Assistant Public Defender for the 19th Judicial Circuit, handling second- and third-degree felony cases.
