What better way is there to celebrate “the wearing of the green” on Saint Patrick’s Day than at an Irish pub drinking Irish whiskey or green beer, eating corned beef, and listening to Irish music? In Vero Beach probably the closest thing to an authentic Emerald Isle hostelry is Kelley’s Irish Pub on Miracle Mile.

Owner Gary Kelley will host the day-long party, providing some of the music himself on his guitar or squeeze box. The 1,500-square-foot establishment will be extended beyond the front door under a 10- by 20-foot tent to accommodate the crowds that always assemble on the March 17 holiday.

While the beer will flow from the nine brews on tap, the menu will be limited to sandwiches. Manager Stella LaBlanc says they will probably serve 800 sandwiches from 11 a.m. until closing. The bestseller that day will be corned beef on rye.
