The open design, lush tropical foliage, and river views from every room in the three-story residence are never taken for granted by the owners, whose dream of an island-inspired lifestyle became a reality four years ago.

With views of the Indian River Lagoon visible from every room in the three-story house, the scene is ever-changing. Every sunrise is magical, the water has its many moods, and wildlife moves with a rhythm that charms. The house is just as its owners had envisioned it could be when they found the perfect lot to build on. Their love of the Key West lifestyle combined with a trip to Bali prompted them to seek an architect who could capture the open-air, island-inspired ambience they wanted.

“We kept looking at architectural design books until we found an architect whose style we liked. We had a list of things we wanted and after meeting him we felt he could make it all happen,” the husband explains.

“Our daughter was the one who wanted us to go to Bali where we spent three weeks touring the island,” says the wife, her memories still vivid.

“We loved the openness and lush tropical feel with lots of palms, hibiscus and banana trees. Since our climate is so similar, we knew we could create that same feeling here.”
