Have a question about an artist? A sculptor? A work of art? The next time you’re enjoying a Vero Beach Museum of Art exhibit, ask one of the docents in the gallery to enlighten you. You might learn some interesting aspects of the work you are viewing. The docent can answer your questions, help you analyze the art and reveal some hidden meanings.

Along with 41 docents, there are 287 other volunteers who fulfill various roles at the museum, both out front and behind closed doors. Some check-in participants at museum events; others perform administrative duties; some work in the gift shop or the museum library; others, with our many mailings. These volunteers – called the Friends of the Vero Beach Museum of Art – give invaluable support to the museum.

Executive Director and CEO since 2004, Lucinda Gedeon says, “Early on in the museum’s history, the volunteers were primarily involved with event fund raising. Now we have paid professionals in our Development Office and use the talents of volunteers in a myriad of other areas. They are a tremendous asset to the museum. We simply could not function without them.”
