Few would argue that Blue Cypress Lake is the most understated of our local natural treasures, and the folks who live shoreside aim to keep it that way. A fish camp offering bait, boats and a few beds is the sole commercial activity. Homes are mostly of the temporary variety. Even the signage has a frontier feel to it. It’s scenic and quiet, the Southern counterpart to the lake made famous in the movie On Golden Pond. Photographers the world over migrate here just behind nesting ospreys.
