Nothing says Christmas better than caroling children. Joyously for audiences of the Atlantic Children’s Chorale (ACC), yuletide performances at the Community Church of Vero Beach will be highly tuned and polished, as is the custom of the 21-voice community choir. The always-impressive ACC will twice this month showcase its collective voice on the soprano solo part of one of the most beautiful and challenging musical settings of the Magnificat by Sir Charles Villiers Stanford. On Christmas Eve, they will also take on the soli duet from Pergolesi’s Gloria accompanied by a professional symphony orchestra.
This is not your typical children’s choir, as the ACC has made clear locally as well as on recent tour stops in Denver, Lake Mary, Fla. and universities in Gainesville and Tallahassee. The children routinely get superior reviews and enthusiast receptions, says ACC founder and director Jose Daniel Flores, who is also director of music at the Community Church. Ryan Kasten, associate director of music at the church, serves as assistant director of the ACC as well as accompanist.
