Vero Beach has much to offer its full-time residents and snowbirds: a perfect climate, fine American and ethnic restaurants, museums and theatre, the scent of orange blossoms in the air, even wood storks that circle high on thermals or shuffle alongside our canals. Many people would add another attraction to the list – the furniture consignment stores in our community that bring shoppers from miles around.
Unlike retail stores, consignment shops carry used furniture that customers want to sell. Vero Beach consignment shops sell an eclectic mix of quality furniture and accessories in excellent condition. The furniture can range from a small coffee table to a complete bedroom or dining room set. The consignment price is determined by the original value, age and wear of the item, as well as its potential to sell. Usually, the shop’s owner gets 40 percent of the sale, the consignor 60. The buyer goes home with quality furniture at a huge savings, often half or even a quarter of the retail price.
