“When rain flooded our tent, we had to rent a motel room,” says Melissa, a wife and mother of a then-13-year-old girl, a 12-year-old boy with autism and 6-year-old twin daughters. “We were homeless for six months before we found The Hope for Families Center.”

Another HFC client, Emma, whose daughter was 2 1/2 when they lived at the center, says, “My husband worked hard, but when rain prevented him from working several weeks, we just couldn’t recover.”

Lorenzo Lockett, the center’s residence and intake case manager, says, “Families move in totally desperate and desolate. They get jobs, flourish and leave situated in their own homes, paying rent and stable.”
