
“Back then we were trailblazers, ours was the only show in town and it was very successful,” says Leonor.
When Leonor Gonzalez welcomed Jean Armstrong into her home on a sunny morning over 30 years ago neither one had any idea that their conversation would lead to creating the International Lecture Series that continues to this day. Avid supporters of the soon-to-be-built Center for the Arts, now the Vero Beach Museum of Art, the women had their sights set on coming up with an idea for a major fundraising event.
“It was perfect timing as I had just returned from Middlebury College where I had received my master’s degree and I was thinking okay, now what am I going to do?” Leonor muses as she recalls how, just like that, she went from being bored to extremely busy.
