“Where e’r you walk … cool gales shall fan the glades.” So states the lovely song by George Frederick Handel, and that is certainly true for all of us who live in Indian River County. Our neighborhoods offer us shaded suburban streets or country dirt roads on which to get our morning or evening exercise, as do the beach and riverside.

If you get bored and want a change of scene, there are many alternatives from which to choose. One of the favorite places to walk is the Barber Bridge. It is a mile over and back and the view from the top is spectacular. It is also the only place where you can get a climbing workout other than on the treadmill in your favorite health club. Many use the 17th Street Bridge, but with no protective divider on the traffic side it is not for the faint hearted.
