From Pastels To Persians

After a redecorating project that took almost two years, the Kokes family – Jan, Holly and Michael – finally settle into their Vero Beach oceanfront condo.

Holly Kokes couldn’t have been happier. After spending almost two years working with Jill Shevlin of Intrinsic Designs, pondering over paint samples, sorting through fabric swatches and selecting furniture for the new third-floor condominium on the ocean, it was move-in time. She, her husband Jan and son Michael would finally get the chance to enjoy those expansive ocean views.

Holly, who prefers a traditional look and confesses to having a penchant for pastels, chose a palette of soft blue and cream colors throughout the main living areas. Everything was in place, everything was perfect, except for one not-so-small detail – after searching high and low Holly and Jill still hadn’t found the right rugs for the gallery, living and dining room areas.

“We’d run into a stumbling block. We had looked at a lot of rugs but I still couldn’t find what I wanted,” Holly says. “Then we went into a local rug shop and there I saw these wonderful carpets. I loved them so much I brought them home and we decided to do something that would make things connect. Jill is wonderful to work with. When I fell in love with the carpets our direction changed.”
