As a lover of the cultural arts, she is a founding member of the Laura “Riding” Jackson Foundation, where she helped preserve the poet’s historic home, now located on the Indian River State College Campus. Additionally as a member of the Laura Riding foundation she co-founded with Pam Proctor, the Teen Writers Workshop to foster young writers in Vero Beach. And launched Cracker Tales Inc. with Nancy Hopwood, a project preserving local oral histories.
Charlotte co-founded the Indian River Literary Society, which brings world renowned authors to speak at monthly luncheons. The Vero Beach Women’s Club is close to Charlotte’s heart because of its history, service to the community and its historic building.
A Florida master naturalist, Charlotte’s passion for nature is evident as she leads clients on eco-adventures from kayaking on the Indian River to exploring the St. Sebastian Buffer Preserve. She remains an advisor for the McKee Botanical Gardens, a place that she enjoys sharing with her extended family and clients.
