Frank and Jackie Bombaci were about to wrap up house-hunting for the day when their realtor took them to number 19 on a list of 20 houses she had lined up for their consideration. Before going inside, Jackie walked down to the dock, looked out at the river, then back at the house, and knew immediately it was the one they would call home.
After visiting Vero Beach for several years, Frank and Jackie Bombaci decided it was time to put down permanent roots here. Frank had achieved his goal of retiring at age 55 and Jackie was looking forward to their spending more time together in a community they had grown to love. On Memorial Day 2007 the couple from Connecticut came for a serious house-hunting search. Topping their wish list, in big, bold letters, was River View.
“We have a niece here who knows everyone in town and she hooked us up with a wonderful realtor who had put together a list of 20 properties for us to look at,” says Frank. “We already knew we didn’t want to be on the ocean because we have an oceanfront home in Old Lyme. We have the sand and sea up north and here we wanted the river, as one of my passions is light-tackle fishing. We went through house after house and this one was number 19, the next to last on the list.”
On an impulse, Jackie didn’t follow her husband and the realtor through the front door; instead, she says, “I walked around outside, then I went down and stood on the dock where I looked out at the river and said oh, my gosh, this is wonderful. I knew this was it even before entering the house.”
