Julia Walker, nationally recognized fund development professional and author of several books on fundraising, joins Kerry Bartlett, AFPIR’s first president, at McKee Botanical Garden in May where Walker presented “Positive Fundraising in a Negative Economy” to AFP members and their guests.

When Ginny Blossom joined the Association of Fundraising Professionals she had little inkling of the impact it would have on her life. Membership in the not-for-profit organization wasn’t something the Cleveland native-by-way-of-California transplant had in mind when she arrived in Vero Beach six years ago seeking a little rest and relaxation before moving on. Instead, she stayed and started working for the Indian River Medical Center Foundation where she met the person who introduced her to the AFP. 

“I joined at the urging of my professional friend and mentor, Jan Donlan (IRMC Foundation Executive Director), having no idea at the time what the organization would come to mean to me,” says Ginny, president of the AFP’s Indian River chapter and director of philanthropy for the Nature Conservancy’s Caribbean program.  “The AFP is really a network of friends and family who inspire mentoring and collaborative efforts. I receive calls frequently from fellow members seeking advice on how to handle certain situations and it is gratifying to be able to give them feedback based on my own experience.”
