The envelope, please, for Most Promising Newcomer on the Vero Beach Movie Scene…. And the winner is…the Majestic 11!

It’s easy to see why. Not only does Cinemaworld’s new U.S. 1 theater feature first-run movies, but audiences get to view them from the comfort of plush rocker-recliner stadium seating. The Dolby Digital surround sound system is first-rate, the concession stand offers refreshments a cut above ordinary fare, and you can catch a light meal in Rick’s Café before or after showtime.

That makes the Majestic truly award-worthy is its elegance; it’s not every day you see travertine floors, granite counters, crown molding, mahogany doors and custom carpeting in a movie theater. One can’t help but appreciate the effort and expense that went into rebuilding a derelict structure that, until two years ago, housed the Zota Galaxy.

Members of the Starr family are the ones to thank for spotting the site’s potential and creating a fresh moviegoing experience. With modern conveniences ingeniously presented in nostalgic 1940s style, one almost expects to see Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy strolling across the lobby, or Bette Davis admiring the vintage-inspired sconces.
