Glass is so common. It’s basic stuff, cheap and plentiful and everywhere – we drag tons of it to the curb every week for recycling. It’s been around forever, too. In fact, it’s hard to think of it as anything more than a mass-produced throwaway – easy come, easy go, right? 
Wrong. Spectacular exhibitions coming to McKee Botanical Garden and the Vero Beach Museum of Art (see page 90) will give you a new respect for the next piece of glass you pick up – or at least make you see it in a totally different light.
