The annual Hibiscus Festival began 50 years ago, met its demise 41 years ago, and was successfully revived this year. One of the highlights of the Hibiscus Festival 2004, held April 16 and 17, was the crowning of the Hibiscus Festival Queen. Fourteen contestants, between the ages of 16 and 20, were judged on stage presence, poise, community service, personality and a personal interview.
