Taking a look back at the history of the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, two primary themes ring true: it takes time to turn the wheels of progress and perseverance pays off. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was Indian River County.

Many of us take for granted the commercial park west of I-95, the east-to-west coast State Road 60, the 17th Street Bridge, the local Red Cross and United Way agencies, the Vero Beach Airport, private industry support of the county’s economic development efforts, and a non-profit hospital foundation that supports our community hospital with private donations, to name a few. Most local residents don’t realize that all of these initiatives were spearheaded by the chamber.

The winning combination of volunteer business leaders and chamber staff has been a driving force in our community for 93 years, with a rich history that is closely entwined with the county.
