For landscape artist René Guerin, inspiration is just outside the door. Her subject is nature and there’s a plentiful variety in the oak hammock she calls home. She lives and works amidst an assortment of strangely inviting 1950s-era structures tucked in a heavily wooded, 41/2-acre lot west of the Vero Beach city limits.
It’s here that René, earthy and artistically hip at 54, burns her seemingly endless supply of energy. She works fast — spontaneously and intuitively — because she likes everything “fresh,” including the paint.
“I do a lot of work and what’s not good I throw away,” she says.
An abundance of very good art has emerged from this less-than-traditional approach.
